তৈরি পোশাক ব্যবসায়ী আনিসুল হক ২০১৫ সালের নির্বাচনে আওয়ামী লীগের মনোনয়নে ঢাকা উত্তর সিটি করপোরেশনের মেয়র নির্বাচিত হন। খোদ প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা নিজেই নাকি ফোন করে নির্বাচনে অংশ নেয়ার কথা জানিয়েছিলেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সে নির্দেশনা আশীর্বাদ ছিল বলে একাধিক প্রোগ্রামে উল্লেখ করেছিলেন। আশীর্বাদ জেনে উন্নয়নের পথে এলেন, দেখলেন এবং জয় করলেন। স্বপ্নজয়ের সিঁড়িতে ভর করেছিলেন সবে। স্থবির হয়ে পড়া রাজধানীর গতিও ফিরিয়েছিলেন খানিক। কিন্তু এই অবেলায় তার গতি থেমে যাবে, তা কে জানতো?
মেয়র আনিসুল হকের প্রধান চ্যালেঞ্জ ছিল সিটি কর্পোরেশন কেন্দ্রিক টেন্ডার বাণিজ্য বন্ধ করে ক্রয় খাতে স্বচ্ছতা আনা। তাতে সক্ষমও হয়েছিলেন। আর তেজগাঁও ট্রাকস্ট্যান্ড উচ্ছেদ, গাবতলীতে অবৈধ পার্কিং বন্ধ করা এবং সর্বশেষ দূতাবাসপাড়ায় অবৈধ স্থাপনা উচ্ছেদ করা তার যুগান্তকারী পদক্ষেপ বলে মনে করা হয়।
