'Notary Public Marriage is not Legal'

Discussion meeting to prevent child marriage in Barisal
Discussion meeting held in Barisal to determine child marriage. The meeting was held in the district administration meeting organized by the Girls Not Brites Alliance Barisal and with the help of child marriage prevention program, empowering women on sexual and reproductive health. 
Deputy Speaker of the Local Government Division Abul Kalam Azad said in the introductory speech, no other Kazi marriage can be made without the registered quota of the government. For this reason, the process of bringing all the Kajee under the ID card (identity card) is underway. It is not lawful to get married through the notary public, he said.

Apart from this, 30 representatives from social service departments, NGO representatives, lawyers and civil society participated.
In the discussion, decision to engage everyone in the upazila's upazila union union with the convening of a 5-member committee and convening all the people to prevent child marriage. 
It is to be noted that BRAC has been working for the development and empowerment of women considering the women as the driving force of the family and society since 1972 for sustainable development of socio-economic conditions.
