The Government Does Not Know The Number of Martyred Intellectuals

A complete list of martyred intellectuals was not created even today during the Great War of Liberation. 46 years have passed since the incident. In this period, many people promised to make a complete list. It will be listed once in June. Last July, the government gave a list of books to be published in the book form. But nobody kept up. The book or the full list has not seen the light of today. Knowing the defeat in the war of liberation war, the killers of intellectuals were killed by the Bangalis. They made the list of sunsets in collaboration with the local collaborators. The Pakistani army killed intellectuals by killing those intellectuals. The day is celebrated only after the independence of the country. But no one has ever searched for the majority of the families who lost the country on that day. Many families are passing through the financial crisis day. Nobody looks back to them. Invite a few intellectuals families and their children to the state ceremony

Professor of History of Dhaka University and Liberation War researcher. Muntasir Mamun told Jugantar that according to his knowledge, there was no official list of martyred intellectuals. He does not think he will gain any benefit from the government. Many organizations and individuals are listed on their own initiative. He said that he has to work from his position on this matter. But there should be a list of martyred intellectuals, so that the future generation can know who the nation lost.

Shaheen Reza Noor, son of Shaheed journalist Sirajuddin Hossain, said that in 1971, the killers had intellectuals' list. But sadly, it is true that the government does not have a complete list of martyred intellectuals. They have only a list of 61 people. He said that the number of martyred intellectuals across the country will not be very high. The maximum number of names may come in the list. The government can not make a full list of them. In this situation, the immediate demand of the martyred intellectuals was made by the two organizations of the children 'generation -71' and 'we are children of freedom fighters'.

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs said that after the completion of the actual freedom of the freedom fighters, they will be able to prepare the list of martyred intellectuals.

In this context, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told Jugantor at his office on Monday that the process of scrutiny of the freedom fighters was in progress. But due to the case it was postponed. When this is done, the martyrs will be given the task of preparing the list of intellectuals.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque spoke to the journalists while giving tributes to the martyrdom of the capital on the Martyred Intellectuals Day on Dec 14, 2016. During this time, he said, hopefully we will get the full list of martyred intellectuals in July. The work of collecting the list of martyred intellectuals killed during the War of Liberation from 1971 to 1971, is going to be their Gazette in July. Prior to that, on February 6, 2014, during the question-answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad, the Liberation War Minister said that the government has the correct list of martyred intellectuals. In response to M Abdul Latif's question, Mozammel Haque said that the correct list of martyred intellectuals is not in the ministry. However, efforts to collect the correct list are continuing. The list will be published in June.

But there is no progress in this regard, the officials concerned office of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry confirmed the Jugantor. When asked about this, Minister Mozammel Haque said that all district administration, Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee and those who hold and cherish the spirit of liberation war, were ordered to collect district-wise list. But all the district administration did not send their list. There are different views about those names even though there are names from some district names. There is also the name of the person killed in the list of martyred intellectuals. Therefore, there is no progress in the matter.

The martyred intellectuals and members of the freedom fighters family, angry at the government's indignation in making martial intellectuals list. They said that the list of martyred intellectuals will be published in the form of gazette. Due to this list, many are being deprived of government privileges. Social and state recognition is important and honor than public facilities.

Saifkat Nizam Bappi, son of the 71st member of the generation martyr journalist Nizamuddin, said the government should soon release the list of martyred intellectuals. Because they were the resources of country and nation. That is why the Pakistani occupation forces and their allies killed them. Many of them are now financially in financial condition. These martyrs families need government assistance and rehabilitation through preparation of the list.

In this context, we are the president of the children of freedom fighters. Sajjad Hossain told the Jugantar, "The names of martyred intellectuals should have been long listed. They are the best children in the country. They are the 'icon' of the nation. The attempt was made to make Bangladesh unmatched through the killing of them. The list must be prepared to present them to the present and future generations. "We believe the present government will publish this list in the form of a gazette." The Ministry of War of Liberation invites members of Shaheed Intellectuals family on state events every year. Asked on the basis on which government list is invited, a senior officer, who was unhappy about disclosing the names of the liberation war ministry, told Jugantor, There is no official list of martyred intellectuals yet. But according to the list of Liberation War based organizations, members of the martyred freedom fighters family were invited on various occasions. But it is not a government list.

Although the intellectual day was observed on 14 December, the Pakistani occupation forces started to kill the best children of the country from the black night of March 25, 1971. Their local collaborators Razakar, Al-Badr, Al Shams, prepared a list of intellectuals. According to the list, the intellectuals were detained from the night of 11 December. Their hands and feet were blindfolded in secret places. From there, their bodies were kept in the garbage in Mirpur, Rayerbazar, Dhaka and many other places. After the Pakistani surrender on December 16, the relatives of the intellectuals found the body of their relatives in the killing ground of Mirpur and Rayerbazar. After independence, the government started working towards making the list of intellectuals, then the government started. On December 18, 1971, on December 29, it was formed privately that the 'Intellectual Disability Investigation Commission' was formed. Then formed 'Intellectual investigation committee'. In the preliminary report of the committee, Rao Farman Ali planned to kill 20,000 intellectuals in the country. But the report was commented that the plan was not fully implemented.
